Orgtehnika ELKA 50
Brief History
Bulgarian Orgtechnika factory in Silistra begun production of Elka series of pocket calculators in lively colors from 1974, which were exported to many european countries. In the next years, in place of earlier desktop models a new series were developed based on Rockwell circuits and japanese VFD tubes. Elka 50 were modified a lot over the years, first the display tube was replaced by russian one-digit tubes, then Elka 50m and 51 models were produced with bulgarian-made chipset. In the socialist countries, similar colorful designs with the 8-digit Elka 1300, 16-digit Elka 53, 53a, and the displayless Elka 55 with bulgarian-made licensed impact printer were well-known products of Bulgaria.
