Casio STUDY CAL AZ-80J
Brief History
For educational purposes, in the time that Casio announced the new fx-82 calculator, some cheaper and simplified calculators were developed: fx-7, fx-5 and the fx-JUNIOR, which hasn’t any scientific functions. This model was so popular in France, a renowned fx-JUNIOR was still in production. In the early 90’s Casio introduced some calculators especially for students in the elementary schools. The AZ-80J (J stands for JUNIOR) is a successor of the earlier fx-JUNIOR, and a mixture of a basic four-function and a scientific calculator: it has three levels of parentheses, attends to precedence of arithmetic operations, and although can’t accept exponents, results can be displayed in scientific notation. The most interesting is the random-number generating button in the upper right corner.
