Casio HL-809B
Brief History
Casio introduced a simple and cheap LCD calculator, HL-809 in 1980. The power switch is a simple metal spring which can directly contact with the batteries when the plastic button was pushed upwards. To reach large quantities, all of the three major japanese manufacturers provide chips: the NEC D1871C, Toshiba T6718 and Hitachi HD43111B ICs are identical, and can be found not only in the first series, but in the second series (HL-809B) built with new display.
