Operator 2002

Brief History
In 1972, almost every company that wanted to make a sudden big profit tried in some way to sell electronic calculators under their own name. In Japan and some of the emerging Asian countries, there were already dozens of companies that already had specific types in this kind for OEM distribution. We do not see the Operator brand either earlier or later, their only known model was the desktop calculator type 2002, originally manufactured at the Tokyo Electronic Application Laboratory (TEAL). The machines of the K80 family were produced here in several versions, so two versions of the Operator 2002 are also known. The soul of the devices is still American, manufactured by Texas Instruments, but the display tubes have already been covered by domestic production. TEAL later produced desktop and pocket calculators for more and more domestic and foreign companies.

It is interesting that a smaller, pocket-sized version with a similar appearance was also sold as Teal LE-8, or Craig 4504.
