Silver-Reed SR 83

Brief History
The Silver-Reed SR 83 scientific calculator is a unique spot in Silver Seiko's product range, with its distinctive appearance. The original is Omron’s 86SR model, which was produced for the Australian subsidiary of General Electric with a slightly redesigned exterior (CE 90). The latter only differs from the Silver-Reed version in its labeling, as the SR 83 was made exclusively for distribution in Germany, so the labels near the display window are in German. The calculator built around General Instrument's CF596 chip — unlike contemporary models with similar layout— is also capable of handling exponential notation, so — with the exception of its keyboard layout — it is a full-fledged scientific calculator.
